Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis
Learning Outcome | Population or Course(s) Assessed | Description | Summary of Assessment Results |
---|---|---|---|
85% of students earn Well Done (4)– Excellent (5) scores in the areas of professionalism (dress & behavior, attendance, understanding of HIM concepts and communication skills). | HIT 1090 Health Information Practicum | In the reporting cycle 14 students completed the HIT 1090 course. At this time data for four of the 14 students is available, and all four met or exceeded the standard set in this outcome. Faculty have been contacted so that the additional data can be retrieved, evaluated, and compiled for future use. | |
90% of students earn a grade of B or higher HIT 1060 Health Information Management Systems to demonstrate comprehension of the collection and maintenance of health data and application of concepts of data management and information governance. | HIT 1060 Health Information Management Systems | The HIT 1060 course is only offered in the Fall term. In the Fall of 2020, 21 students registered for the HIT 1060 course, and 20 completed it. Of the 20 students who completed the course 15 or 75% completed with a B or higher. Based on these numbers this program learning outcome was not met during this reporting cycle. |
Interpretation of Assessment findings |
---|
The full data set needed to assess in the outcome measured in the HIT 1090 course was not accessible at this time.
Currently there is no program director for the HIT Program. The lead instructors for these courses have been contacted so that the data can be retrieved, evaluated, and compiled for future use.
The outcome measured in the HIT 1060 course indicates that this outcome was not met during this reporting cycle.
Once a new HIT program director is hired the curriculum and outcomes will be reviewed in order to develop a plan for future success. |
