Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
This has been an incredibly difficult and challenging year for the Yoga Instructor Program due to Covid-19 pandemic we were forced to move all our classes (entire program) online via Zoom/BrightSpace. The Yoga Instructor Certificate of Completion is relatively new and started Fall 2018. In 2019-2020 FY there were a total of 15 declared Yoga Certificate Majors and this fiscal year (2020-2021) there are 12 declared Yoga Certificate Majors. This has been a steady drop over the last 3 fiscal years. It is understandable that this decline (especially the last FY and this one) could be attributed to the Covid-19 pandemic. Given the challenges of the pandemic the number of graduates doubled from 4 last 2019-2020FY to 8 this current fiscal year--still below the target of 10. This programs Annual average class withdrawal rate, Annual C-Pass rate for course work, and average class fill rate all met the target cut-offs.

Summarize how your program met or did not meet the target measures based on the data above
The Yoga Instructor Certificate program has failed to meet the target measure of 10 graduate awards with 8 graduates this 2020-2021 FY this is up by 4 students from the prior fiscal year (2019-2020). This is fairly surprising because this entire fiscal year the program was forced online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the program did meet and exceed target measures of 60% or above on Annual C-Pass Rate for course work with 75% to date. The average class fill met the above 60% target this FY year at 79%. Annual average class withdrawal rate did meet the below 30% target at 14% this FY which remained steady from last 2019-2020 FY. One statistic that is alarming is that the program's number of declared majors has steadily dropped the last 3 fiscal years to 12 students from 28 in FY 2018-2019 which was the Yoga Instructor Cert. first year of operation.

Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis

      Interpretation of Assessment findings
This fiscal year there have been a total of 10 students move through our FITT 2090: Yoga Internship class which is the last class students take upon completing the certificate. One of the major assessments for the class is having students complete live teaching and recordings demonstrating a proper yoga class sequence, mechanics, and deconstructing asanas into component parts. The average points scored by students was 90 points out of 100 which was 10 points ahead of our target. Based on these results we will continue in the way we are delivering this curriculum and assessment at this time. In our FITT 2020: Fundamentals of Yoga Instruction class student were scoring a 90/100 on their final exam score upon exiting the class—10 points higher than our target. A total of 10 students have registered with the Yoga Alliance to become officially a Certified Yoga Instructor. Nothing should change here, except in getting the number of declared majors and # of graduated increased through program promotion.

Upcoming YearChanges Planned for the upcoming yearData Motivating this change
      2021-2022
Nothing needs to be done with the specific courses analyzed however, increasing the number of declared majors and number of graduates in this program needs to be addressed. This will be done through marketing strategies and program promotion.
Number of declared majors has fallen the last 3 fiscal years; Number of graduates is below 10 at 8 this fiscal year.
