Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
1. AVMT Fall 2020: 11 Students began the General Curriculum. 2. AVMT Spring 2021: 7 Students began the General Curriculum. 3. AVMT Summer 2021 Graduates: 9 Airframe Certificates This assessment cycle began in the Summer of 2020. Due to COVID, Summer 2020 Airframe courses were cancelled then rescheduled for the following Summer 2021 term. Students affected by COVID restrictions graduated a term later as result. This delayed student completion of the Airframe certificate by a year. Due to the delay, the 9 eligible Airframe students did not test with the FAA in this cycle. Hybrid courses consisting of face to face lab sessions and online theory sessions was the mode of instruction. Online learning was a first for the Airframe courses due to COVID restrictions.

Summarize how your program met or did not meet the target measures based on the data above
Due to COVID restrictions, the Summer 2020 Airframe courses rescheduled to the Summer 21 term. Graduation for the Airframe Students was delayed by a year. 9 out of 11 students completed the Airframe Certificate. This group began the program before COVID. There was high attrition in their General courses, 8/25 students passed, last cycle. One student later dropped out due to COVID concerns bringing the total to 7 students. AT and an AVMT instructor offered an intersession make up course which brought the total back to 11 eligible graduates. Over the summer two students failed bringing the number of graduates to 9 total Airframe Certificates.

Due to the graduation delay, Airframe Graduates did not test with the FAA in this cycle.

Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)

Upcoming YearChanges Planned for the upcoming yearData Motivating this change
2021-2022
Our program continues to discuss attrition rates. Online learning changed as a result. Brightspace training was offered to Faculty through the CARES program. More face to face classes are offered to retain students.
2/11 ( 18%) Students passed the General Curriculum, Fall 2020. 4/7 (56%) Students passed the General Curriculum, Spring 2021.
2021-2022
Our program needs to discuss internal testing methods again. Our department and administration identified testing as a contributing factor to the high attrition rates. The FAA instructor’s handbook, FAA-H-8083-9A, provides examples for writing exams.
2/11 ( 18%) Students passed the General Curriculum, Fall 2020.
2021-2022
Our program needs a formal process to discuss student feedback. CNM offers the Small Group Instructional Diagnosis (SGID) which provides a third-party method of gathering student feedback. This method or one similar would be helpful in discussing methods for improving student learning. This can provide an objective standard to identify and discuss best Instructional practices.
2/11 ( 18%) Students passed the General Curriculum, Fall 2020. 4/7 (56%) Students passed the General Curriculum, Spring 2021.
