Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
The Certificate Program now includes additional courses, allows students extra learning opportunities with concepts, and increases the time to completion to four semesters total. The Entry-level certificate includes two advanced-level laboratory classes. Although the Accreditation Standard considers the two ninety-hour, sterile and non-sterile compounding labs advanced-level courses, they are included in the entry-level program upon the recommendation of the Pharmacy Technician Program Advisory Committee. This report will serve as baseline data for the completion of the program's cycle plan. All of the program courses have now been assessed once. The response to the COVID-19 pandemic has effected program course offerings and student retention. The program's national Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) pass rate is currently 80% versus the national average of 71%. Program PTCE Candidates performed higher than national average in three out of the four exam content areas.

Data for the new program is not available for the average fill rate, retention, and C-Pass rate targets. The program graduation goal was not satisfied due to the decreased enrollment precipitated by the pandemic restrictions and possibly the sudden change in course modalities. Of the fourteen students in cohort one, seven completed program courses. One student will apply to graduate fall 2021 and one moved out of state prior to completion.
