A. Highlights/Successes: The program has maintained college set goals throughout the 2020-2021 reporting cycle. B. Retention rates for Fall 2020 cohort, 86%; Summer 2021 cohort, 84%. C. Graduate outcomes: 12 students applied for graduation Fall 2020. 10 students applied for graduation Summer 2021. Total outcome, 84% D. Credentialing exam was 80%. 16 students took general chairside-11 passed (69%); 15 took RHS-14 passed (93%); 14 took ICE- 11 passed (79%) E. Challenges: Faculty learning and implementing Brightspace. 60% of the program delivered in a distance learning environment including simulation for clinical. F. Significant changes: New clinical requirements for students due to COVID, distance learning utilized for 60% of total program delivery, shortage of host sites for students, utilization of 50-100 clinical hours per student done with simulation and distance learning in order to stay in compliance with accreditation, students using DL for theory courses.

DA 1593 (Radiology II lab course)- Average on final grade was 92.7% National Board for RHS pass rate of 93% DA 2510 HESI RHS subcategory average score was 72%.
2. Collect and record clinical data, perform chairside procedures, utilize appropriate chairside assistant ergonomics, prepare, manipulate and apply chairside dental materials, demonstrate an understanding of laboratory procedures and materials, describe patient education and oral health management, provide pre- and postoperative instructions, discuss prevention and management of emergencies, and discuss office operations.

DA 2090 summative evaluations were 92.4% demonstrating the students ability to perform the necessary skills of an entry level dental assistant in general chairside assisting (GC). DA 2510 HESI subcategory of GC was 85.7% DANB GC was 69% pass rate. Program goal not met for DANB. 400 is the minimum passing score on DANB. In category #2, Patient Management and Administrative Duties, our programs average performance was 396. HESI indicated deficiency scores below 650 also in category #2 with further breakdown into low scores the following areas: in collection and recording of clinical data, diagnostic aids, treatment documentation, selection and preparation of armamentarium and materials, patient management, impression and plaque control techniques.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of patient and dental healthcare worker education, apply standard/universal precautions and the prevention of disease transmission, demonstrate an understanding of occupational safety, manage infection and hazard control protocol consistent with published professional guidelines.
DA 2090 National Board (DANB) DA 2510 HESI Examination
    DA 2090 Clinical summative evaluations were 92.4% DA 2510 HESI subcategory Infection Control (ICE) results were 68.6%. HESI low scores were in the following categories: Occupational Safety Standards incorporating all safety measures including disease transmission, BBP standards, needle stick protocol, sterilization methods, mask utilization, rubber dam isolation, ultrasonic cleaner and orthodontic categorization. DANB subcategory pass rate for ICE was 79%.
    4. Exhibit behaviors expected to be successful in securing and maintaining a career in the dental profession to include: punctuality, teamwork, communication skills and appropriate interaction with patients of all ages and backgrounds, respect for personal beliefs without discrimination of patient care.

      DA 2090 and DA 1590 professional rubric scores were 89.9% averaged between the two courses.
      5. Continual growth and development as a professional committed to the dental industry by participation in professional organizations and educational activities offered to dental auxiliaries while enrolled in the program. Obtaining certification as a professional by taking both national and state examinations immediately upon graduation.

      The National Board issued 11 Certified Dental Assistants (CDA's.) which meant that these students passed all three components of the board (RHS, ICE, GC) The State of New Mexico licensed 14 certifications in Radiation Health and Safety (RHS) which is required to administer radiation to patients. 80.3% of graduates obtained licensing.
      Interpretation of Assessment findings
      1. DA 1593 Final exam average was 92.7% for the 2 cohorts demonstrating skill in technique, DANB pass rate for Radiation Health & Safety (RHS) was 93%, DA 2510 HESI RHS results were 72%. DANB demonstrates the students knowledge and issues their credentialing to administer dental radiation. Program goal met 2. DA 2090 summative evaluations were 92.4% demonstrating the students ability to perform the necessary skills of general chairside assisting (GC). HESI GC was 85.7% DANB GC was 69% pass rate. Program goal not met for DANB. 3. DA 2090 summative evaluations were 92.4%, HESI Infection Control (ICE) results were 68.6%, DANB pass rate for ICE was 79%. Goal not met for HESI. 4 DA 2090 and DA 1590 professional rubric was 89.9% average between the two courses. Program goal met 5. The National Board issued 11 CDA's. State licensed 14 RHS. 80.3% obtained licensing. Goal met. *HESI is given before graduation & DANB with specific remediation provided by the external assessor based on individual student results.

Course content revision for DA 1119 Chairside I, DA 1519 Chairside II and DA 2508 Patient Management & Oral Health Management to include more patient management and administrative duties as outlined in this data collection motivated this change. Faculty will meet monthly to review course content and CODA standards to improve the DANB pass rate in subcategory GC (general chairside) by 5%.
      DANB results in this subcategory was 396- candidate needs 400 to pass this aspect of the exam.
