Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |
---|
Program highlights include the introduction of a Real-Time Hybrid NUTR 1010 course which met weekly at a set day and time over Zoom. This was in direct response to the students' requests for real-time instruction during the remote-learning pandemic operations. Another highlight was the successful hire of a full-time faculty member to bring the total back up to four full time faculty.
Challenges included the transfer of all coursework from Blackboard to Brightspace at the start of the Spring 2021 term. While most nutrition instructors and students made a relatively seamless transition to Brightspace, some struggled quite a bit. Another challenge was the drop in enrollment CNM-wide, which limited course offerings and part time instruction. |

Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis
Learning Outcome | Population or Course(s) Assessed | Description | Summary of Assessment Results |
---|---|---|---|
ES Critical Thinking: Evidence Acquisition – identify and gather the information/data necessary to address the problem or question. | NUTR 1010 |
| A common assignment on developing an experiment using the scientific method was used to assess proficiency. Target was a minimum score of 75%. Average across the 10 NUTR 1010L courses reported over Fall 2020 to Spring 2021 was 96%, with the lowest course reporting of 90% and the highest course reporting of 99%. |
ES Critical Thinking: Problem Setting – delineate a problem or question | NUTR 1010L |
| A common Dietary Analysis assignment, in particular, food logs/food entry, was used to assess proficiency. Target was a minimum score of 75%. Average across the 17 NUTR 1010 courses reported over Fall 2020 to Spring 2021 was 95%. |
Interpretation of Assessment findings |
---|
Students demonstrated a high level of delineating a problem or question via the scientific method assignment across all 10 reporting sections of NUTR 1010L. Students also showed a high level of evidence acquisition as demonstrated by the dietary analysis food logs.
