Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |
---|
The ELTR program allows the students to obtain certificates along the way to obtaining an AAS. After completing Term 1 and Term 2 of the program, the students gain a Residential Wiring Certificate. This certificate shows potential employers that the basic skills of a level 1 apprentice have been obtained. A challenge of this past year was not having enough instructors to hold more classes in order to serve a wider group of students and ensure a student's path to obtaining a certificate/degree was not interrupted because of not being able to offer certain classes. Finding qualified individuals that hold a New Mexico EE-98J Journeyman Electrician's license who also would like to become instructors has been part of that challenge. This past year we succeeded in hiring two qualified individuals as instructors, one full-time and one part-time. |
