Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |
---|
The MLT program was able to fully utilize the new lab (new in Fall 2019) for the 2021-2022 school year. We increased the class size to 24, up from a pre-COVID cap of 18. We continued to work closely with our clinical partners and developed a new clinical rotation schedule that aligns more closely with the industry standard departments. One challenge has been getting new part-time faculty. There are very few qualified applicants and often their lab work schedules conflict with our lab class schedule. We continue to post and interview as appropriate. |

Interpretation of Assessment findings |
---|
Students are meeting and exceeding the minimum criteria for theory and lab courses. Students are also being evaluated positively by clinical preceptors/supervisors. The number of students attempting the national certification exam has increased, however, the scores are lower than previous years. Students are not maintaining a passing grade of 400 or higher, action plan is required. |
Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)
Upcoming Year | Changes Planned for the upcoming year | Data Motivating this change |
---|---|---|
2021-2022 | Implementation of structured study groups with a focus on the national exam. These will be conducted during the summer term as part of the MLT 2712 Advanced Topics and Exam Prep course. | ASCP National Certification scores less than 400. 400 or higher is required to pass. |
