Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
PV added a new advanced PV class, Large Scale Solar, to the curriculum that will taught for the first time 2022. This class will take advantage of CNM's Westside Energy Center. There is a large scale solar system, 1.3 megawatts, at CNM's westside campus. Part of that system is isolated and not powered and will be used as a training array. This will be the only class of its kind in the US. In June 2022, a one week Women-Only Hands-on PV workshop was taught for attendees of the American Solar Energy Society. There were participants from NM and 5 different states, This workshop highlighted CNM's PV program. It took place in the PV lab and culminated in a lighting project on CNM's campus. There was a lot of coverage of this workshop in the solar community. It was a huge success. This could lead to other successful non credit workshops and classes.

Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis

Learning OutcomePopulation or Course(s) AssessedDescriptionSummary of Assessment Results
1. Demonstrate knowledge of design and installation of various types of systems including racking, modules, inverters, balance of system parts, and utility interconnection.
    Interpretation of Assessment findings
The PV Program provides a comprehensive and inclusive environment for students to learn design and installation of PV systems. The first half of the semester the students learn to design and install systems. They also learn in depth about PV components. The 2nd half of the semester the students install and operate grid tied and off grid systems. The curriculum is set up to progress with installation and more complexity while providing a safe and academically challenging environment. By the last assessment that is reviewed, least 90% of the students are able to design and install different types of PV systems including grid tied connection.
