Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
The MA Program hired a new Director/FT Faculty Jan 2022 to replace the previous PD who left abruptly in fall 2021. The MA program continues to work toward completing its Self Study Evaluation Report (SER)in Nov 2022 to be submitted to the Medical Assistant Educational Review Board (MAERB) for initial accreditation from CAAHEP in spring 2023. The new MA Program Director has added procedural competencies that follow the MAERB 2015-2022 Core Curriculum requirements. A summer semester was added successfully with the program going to three, 14 week semesters as of spring 2023. Supplies required for student success have been delivered. Texts have been implemented for teachers and faculty service/professional development has been emphasized. Students have been encouraged to take national certification for RMA (AMT) or CMA (AAMA) credentialing. Students are testing through the American Medical Technologists (AMT) and/or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). The big challenge remains in recruiting.

Interpretation of Assessment findings
Average MA 2999 test scores in the 90s but we have no historical data to compare results to prior to spring 2022. In this initial assessment of credentialing scores, we have also met/exceeded national benchmarks for credentialing with several recent graduates sitting for either the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) exam through the American Medical Technologists or the Certified Medical Assistant ((CMA (AAMA)) exam through the American Association of Medical Assistants Pilot Project for Certification Eligibility. This is due to the implementation of a certification review text included in program student textbook bundles. Our current pass rate threshold is 70% and our goal for the next reporting period is 75% or higher.
