Interpretation of Assessment findings
Students continue to do well meeting the learning outcome #1, the computations required in payroll accounting. Regarding learning outcomes #2 and #3, even though this target was not met, there was an increase in number of students meeting this target in comparison to the prior year's assessment. Because of last year's SAAC report, the Acct 2170 course team met and one recommendation that came from that meeting that was implemented was to rearrange the order of the Final Exam problems, moving these last three questions (which are measured in learning outcomes #2 and #3) to the first three questions on the Final Exam and see what impact that has on the student's success in meeting these two learning outcomes. This was done in the Spring 2023 sections of Acct 21700. Preliminary results show a marked improvement (20%+) in the average grade for these specific problems on the Final Exam. Acct 2170 faculty are anxiously waiting to see if a full year of data shows the same trend.
