Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |

The NA Program continues to exceed CNM Target measures in all areas. Our current overall pass rate for the NA state CNA exam is at 90%. Our efforts to increase enrollment continue and an increase in our Dual Credit offerings at CEC campus to two sections will begin in the spring term. We have increased our class fill rate from 75% last cycle to 80% this cycle. We continue overcome staffing shortages by relying on dedicated PT and FT faculty taking overload to fill in the gaps. The efforts made by faculty in the program to assist students in meeting compliance deadlines has been successful. We have included simulated clinical scenarios prior to our clinical rotations to better prepare students for the clinical experience and increase skill competence. Our current skill pass rate for 2023 on the NM CNA state exam is 98%. |

Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)
Upcoming Year | Changes Planned for the upcoming year | Data Motivating this change |
---|---|---|
2022-2023 | Addition of class activities and short homework assignments to enhance learning of Medical Terminology and Abbreviations. Specific cohorts have had great success on the exams with the inclusion of these activities. This will be implemented as a requirement in the curriculum.
Implementation of one-on-one Instructor evaluation and feedback for the transfer and positioning skills during mock finals. | Our scores on Medical Terminology/Abbreviation exams in were much higher in specific cohorts than others. Specific cohorts exceeded our goal of 90% of students passing with a minimum score of 75%, while other cohort's percentages were much lower and far below the goal. In researching the differences between the cohorts, it was determined that the extra class activities and homework assignments in the successful cohorts enabled students to have a much better understanding of the Medical Terminology and Abbreviations. This practice will be included in the curriculum as a requirement, and we will evaluate this again next cycle.
Our scores on the Transfer and Positioning Skill Evaluation were lower than the targeted goal. Implementation of one-on-one evaluation of this skill by an instructor instead of a peer prior to lab final exams will provide the students with the feedback needed to improve skill performance. We will evaluate this for improvement next cycle. |
