Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
Program has been successful because the students are given engaging and challenging labs and projects. Field trips complement labs and help solidify concepts and give students a more complete understanding of PV systems. The biggest challenge in my program are a couple of the software program used for emphasizing concepts. The programs are the best that I could find and do a good job, but there are always challenges. I've worked with IT and others at CNM to help me and the students with software issues. I continue to use CNM resources to help me make class material more user friendly and efficient.

Summarize how your program met or did not meet the target measures based on the data above
Program has met all goals listed above. I think more marketing of the program would bring in much more students and significantly increase the numbers. Many people do not know the program exists.

Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis

2. Demonstrate knowledge of design and installation of various types of systems including racking, modules, inverters, balance of system parts, and utility interconnection.
ELTR 2692
  • In-class Activities
  • Homework Assignments
  • Practical Exam
Students are meeting learning outcome through both computer based assignments, reading, quizzes and hands on labs. The students are able to retain information through repetition and understanding how components work together. They are also part of a team. They need to work together and help each other. This has been a very successful way to run this class. The practical exam at the end of the class has the students using all of their training and resources, including each other.
Interpretation of Assessment findings
Students are meeting the program goals. Having a more diverse amount of modules and inverters would enhance students learning outcomes. I'm always looking to find better software options to help students grasp concepts more concretely.

Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)

Upcoming YearChanges Planned for the upcoming yearData Motivating this change
2022-2023
Update NEC code changes for ELTR 2615 PV Code Class. NM is currently on the 2020 code cycle. I was able to take a class where I learned the changes that will be made to the 2023 NEC. I will highlight these for my students so they know what to anticipate.
The NEC will be updated in the near future to the next code cycle.
