Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
In the previous assessment period, the COVID pandemic and the challenges faced by Public Safety communications centers in finding and keeping qualified employees had a negative impact on CNM Public Safety 911 Dispatcher Program enrollment and created challenges to growing the program. During this assessment period, there has been an improvement in the number of students entering the program. Two PSD academy cohorts were run during 2022-2023 resulting in 29 students successfully graduating from the program. The CNMPSD continues to develop a positive reputation within the profession in the State of New Mexico. This, in conjunction with communication centers having the availability of WIOA funding to pay for their students to attend, will help foster the continued growth of the program. The program has continued its academic success with 100% of the students completing the CNMPSD and having successfully passed the New Mexico Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification Exam.
