Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |
---|
Currently, American Studies has 45 majors. Over the last three years it has increased courses and expanded on teaching a broader range of topics. The assessment began in Fall 2021 and has continued until now. In Spring 2023, the program was able to obtain data regarding student learning objectives. Through a faculty survey, we were able to find that most courses were successful in achieving learning objectives. Some of the challenges are that most of the faculty is part-time and often do not attend or respond to assessment emails. In other words, they haven't reported back despite numerous attempts. We hope to implement a wide range of assessment outcomes such as more student presentations. |
