Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
Currently, American Studies has 45 majors. Over the last three years it has increased courses and expanded on teaching a broader range of topics. The assessment began in Fall 2021 and has continued until now. In Spring 2023, the program was able to obtain data regarding student learning objectives. Through a faculty survey, we were able to find that most courses were successful in achieving learning objectives. Some of the challenges are that most of the faculty is part-time and often do not attend or respond to assessment emails. In other words, they haven't reported back despite numerous attempts. We hope to implement a wide range of assessment outcomes such as more student presentations.
