Part 2: Program Summary
Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program |
---|
Our Nail Technology program provides students with the education they need to jumpstart their career. Graduate totals for this academic cycle was 31 nail technicians. Professional credential services reported 100% pass rate for practical exams and 86.96% pass rate for written exams. Our pass rate for written exams improved 16.96% from the previous year. We have hired industry professionals who are improving and updating our curriculum. These updates provide training on current trends and improve student confidence upon graduation. We are using the most current textbooks to help prepare our students for their written exams.
Some of the challenges we experienced was the higher costs of tools and supplies and accessibility resources for some of our students. We are working on improving accessibility in our lab to accommodate both students and clients. We requested an increase in budget to make up for the cost of high pricing and to provide our students with the resources they need to complete their work. |

Interpretation of Assessment findings |
---|
Nail technology students are most successful when working hands on with models and clients. Student confidence level increases when they get to immediately apply previous knowledge on the public. Quota lab sheets allow students to record their progress and meet our state regulating agency's criteria for nail technology students. The lab sheet also allows students to learn about goal setting, the importance of building a salon clientele and pre-booking clients. Through hands on practice, students learn to improve their speed helping them provide realistic time frames to complete a service before becoming licensed professionals. During a lab setting, instructors are able to provide one on one feedback. |
