Part 2: Program Summary

Provide a high level review of the program to include highlights, successes, challenges, significant changes, and significant resources needed to support the program
The program has been very successful in the last year. In 2022 we had 11 graduates out of 12 students in a cohort. Out of those 11 graduates we have had 100% retention rates and job placement with great overall satisfaction. 91% of the 11 graduates obtained their national credentials. We have struggled with enrollment and we became a fixed program, in which we were given support from MCO to help us increase our enrollment. We also have changed our way of accepting students into our program in which we now take a new cohort in every other semester of 16 students. This has been great for students who do not initially pass the program, in which they would not have to wait 3 semesters for re-entry. The CNM RT Program received a two 2022 credentialing success award. This award was our 5th and 5th awards from CoArc, our accreditation. The award shows success of the program achieving a 90% passing rate on board exams from graduates of the program.

Students are tested on all exams to mimic the national board exams. These exams ensure that they prepare the students for actual exams. In addition to regular class learning exams, students are given a practice board exam that is created by their credentialing body. These exams show the student what areas of learning they are weak in and how to better prepare themselves for their board exam. The areas of testing include: data collection/information gathering, equipment management, and clinical practice related to the future roles they will take on as new respiratory therapists.
Interpretation of Assessment findings
Our students are very proactive in their learning with growth and development. They attend college day to reach the community about what Respiratory Therapy is and the roles they have when they are in their careers. The students also do research each semester to better their knowledge of respiratory diseases as well as case studies that teach them on how to manage these disease processes. Students are required to demonstrate a role model of outstanding professional behavior at all times and to represent CNM in a positive way. This includes but is not limited to, professional attire, adequate hygiene, positive attitudes, time management, adequate communication skills, and teamwork. The students provide positive feedback to each other to enrich their learning experience and show respectful behaviors toward each other in the process. While in clinical rotations student show this positive behavior and respectfulness to all patients and clinical, part time instructors to deliver outstanding patient care.

Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)

Upcoming YearChanges Planned for the upcoming yearData Motivating this change
2022-2023
We have now added the Kettering Board Prep Seminar and study material into student curriculum to allow for students to better prepare for board exams. This software and book shows the most up to date information of the board exams and allows a precise study guide for the exam. There are practice exams and simulation questions included. We have also now attended one conference on up-to-date respiratory care with the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) and have funded another trip for one this year.
Typically we see a 90% success rate of passing board exams and we would like to increase that number to 100% passing rate.
