Part 4: Program Learning Outcome Analysis
Learning Outcome | Population or Course(s) Assessed | Description | Summary of Assessment Results |

Interpretation of Assessment findings |
---|
1. Learning outcomes were met. Assessment tools DANB and HESI, did have some disconnect due to the omission of film, processing and quality assurance tests related to film. 2024 HESI exam should calibrate with DANB. Overall RHS scores improved on DANB.
2. Learning objectives were met. GC average performance scores improved.
3. Infection control is a more challenging topic with memorization of many different agencies and protocol. The 2 cohorts scored low on the HESI examination but passed the national board and obtained licensing. Started using SIMTICs simulation on disinfection and sterilization with the Spring 2023 cohort. Review textbook and supplement material. Curricular changes will be made since low scores for ICE are a trend.
4. Learning objectives were met. Acceptable student behaviors.
5. Learning objectives were met with 80% of graduates obtaining licensing and certification.
Faculty will continue professional development and revise curriculum accordingly.

Part 5: Additional Action Plan in Support of Student Learning (If Appropriate)
Upcoming Year | Changes Planned for the upcoming year | Data Motivating this change |
---|---|---|
2022-2023 | Incorporate more infection control in all courses in the curriculum. | Low HESI scores and lower passing rates in this area of the DANB |
2022-2023 | Review material taught in main course for Infection control (DA 1119); specifically patient and dental healthcare education, standard/universal precautions, and occupational safety. Change of instruction to incorporate faculty with a bilingual background to help and support ESL students with terminology. | These three categories were below both the acceptable and recommended levels on the HESI examination. Nine of our current graduates stated they had a difficult time with the language on tests. These students were all ESL students. |
