Describe the change that was implemented. The department is currently exceeding its goal. No changes are planned at this time.
Type of Change
  • Other
Change in Assessment Approach or Tools? No, it will not.
What data motivated the change?Final exam averages were in the A to B range, quite high, with few low outliers. Average: 86. Median: 92. 92% of students scored 70% or above. This could be due to high course attrition weeding out students prior to the final exam.
Hypothesis about the effect the change will have?No changes are planned at this time. This course attracts a broad swath of students, many of whom might not otherwise take a computer science course and may not take one again. We want this course to both teach quantitative reasoning and communication skills, as well as a attract students who were not previously considering computer science. High attrition rates are expected in introductory courses that are highly technical such as this one.
