Data not available for standardized multiple choice exam. | The data is not available for the writtene exam results. Data is available for the pass rate of the course 11/16 students. | This shows us that instructor should administer a standardized FAA exam on future cycles of this course. |

| Type of Change |
|
| Change in Assessment Approach or Tools? | This will result a change in the assessment approach since previous Instructors weren't providing data or administering standardized tests. |

| Learning Outcome (or Gen Ed Essential Skill) | Description of Assessment Tool | Population of Courses Assessed |
|---|---|---|
| 5. Service aircraft. | Standardized written exam. | AVMT 1145 |
| Learning Outcome (or Gen Ed Essential Skill) | Summary of Second Round Results | Intepretation of Results, Pre- and Post-Change | Follow up questions, possible next steps |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5. Service aircraft. | 18/18 students passed on the second round of assessment. The average score on the written exam was 89.3%. | The next step is to standardize Instructional practices within the AVMT program. This last cycle, both instructor's agree on the same method for test preparation. That'd be invaluable to do in the future, with a new Instructional staff it's important for new instructor's to follow the program guidelines when it comes to testing. |
Describe any change in student achievement observed as part of this assessment process, and what led to those changes.
A clear plan for test preparation with daily objectives helped with student retention and overall test scores.
Describe long-term changes in the program(s) that the assessment process led to, and what motivated those changes?
This is a change we've wanted to see for years -- all of the instructional staff on board with test preparation for the students. Our students do better when we take time to prepare them for their certification exams with the FAA just before graduation.
What did you learn about the teaching and learning of "Practicing Community" in your programs?
Practicing community helps us to understand Industry needs with our employment partners and how to best prepare our students by exam preparation and acceptable work practices.
Describe any external factors affecting the program or affecting assessment of the program.
The Federal Aviation Administration requires that 70% of our students pass their certification exams after graduation. Currently, although the evaluation cycle with the FAA isn't complete yet, we stand at a 93% pass rate.
